"PAGROWDA Hortisculpture"

Horticultural Sculptures (2012-2026)

PAGROWDA Hortisculpture is a collection of ideas for a line of conceptual horticultural products, which are centered around the idea of being both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

At its core, the PAGROWDA Hortisculpture brand is based around a line of horticultural sculptures, which I have come to refer to as “horti-sculpture”. These hortisculptures were born out of years of struggle in attempting to protect my favorite houseplants from the cold, dark New England winters, and from being devoured by my voracious house cats Apollo and Eevee. My early plant-defense structures were primitive in construction, using bamboo skewers lashed together with the bendy wire tabs from the top of all of the coffee packaging that I’ve consumed over the years. These structures quickly complexified however, to take on more of a multi-functional role in the overall landscape of the rooms where they were stationed.

This project is composed of an eclectic mix of different mediums, featuring hand-crafted and 3D-printed prototypes, original hand-drawn sketches and illustrations, CAD renderings, original photographs, and manipulated AI image generations.

"Earth Monster"

ICONOGRAPHIC IMAGE (2012 - 2026)

This content features an artistic synthesis inspired by iconographic and cosmological motifs found across various pre-Columbian civilizations of central Mexico, the Yucatan peninsula, and Belize (commonly referred to as “Mesoamerica”). This includes the ancient Olmec, Maya, and Aztec (Mexica) peoples. It is not intended as a definitive theological/scholarly interpretation, but as an exploration of recurring symbolic language across time.

This icongraphic illustration is inspired by beings that are commonly referred to as “earth monsters”. These earth monsters don’t show up in one singular form, but share many similarities in the overall appearance and iconography. I created this piece as a visual exploration attempting to connect the dots between the motifs referenced above.

"CITRON"

POSTER ILLUSTRATION (2012-2020)

Original painting created with Acrylic paint, Copic markers, Montana Paint markers, white out pens, and ball-point pen on paper.

Inspired by a particularly vibrant bouquet of flowers that I bought at the Harvard Square Farmers’ Market a few years back, the south-facing bay window of the kitchen in my old apartment, and my two trouble-making cats, Apollo and Eevee. Special guest appearances by some of my favorite houseplants, some very juicy citrus, a feisty praying mantis, and a few local butterflies that frequent the back yard at my new apartment.
